Rich, warming, full-bodied and affordable - You'd imagine what a Scottish Woodcutter might like at the end of the day.
This wine reflects the up and coming Shiraz vineyards of the Barossa, rather than the battle hardened old vines that make up the core of our other cuvee’s. But like all Torbreck wines, Woodcutter’s - Shiraz receives the very best viticultural and winemaking treatment. Although this wine is constantly praised for its succulence and richness, there is also a complexity and texture which is rarely found at this price.
Full of freshness and bright youthful fruits, the 2022 vintage brings an opulence and class to the wines. Impenetrable inky black in colour with a very deep dark purple black tinged hue. Exuberant dark plum, liquorice and blackberry scents engulf the nostrils followed by some vanillin cedar, fennel, inky earth and pepper notes. Rich, concentrated and super succulent the full bodied palate is awash with opulent dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits. Lending further personality are vanillin cedar, inky earth and peppered fennel characters. Boasting fantastic length and power for its price it has velvet smooth tannins and good underlying freshness. Concludes long, deep and lush.
It's spice flecked with a touch of chocolatey oak and a warm earthy, mineral core. The palate is equally lifted and sculpted, with beautiful line of acidity and taut, herb and spiced tannins.
