The perfect balance of power and poise. This full bodied Barossa powerhouse has an incredible freshness that is somewhat dangerous.
According to Decanter Magazine, this is thoroughly charming and a smart buy for any wine-lover.
The 2022 The Struie is composed of 79% Barossa Valley and 21% Eden Valley fruit. It is impenetrably dense in the glass and aromatic and rich in the mouth. It's totally concentrated with impressive flavor penetration on the palate. This is an epic wine, as usual, and at $55 AUD, it represents sensational premium Barossa Shiraz drinking. It's all velvet and volume, with detail and varietal definition. It could only come from one place on the planet, as it speaks as much to its red dirt origins as it does to the variety, Shiraz.
This 100% shiraz was first released in 2001. It is made from vineyard sites in the Eden Valley (approximately 40-year-old vines) and the Barossa Valley (average 60-year-old vines). The elevation of the Eden Valley is some 200 metres higher than the Barossa and the cooler climate results in a longer growing season and thus more flavour development. Differences in soil between the Eden Valley and Barossa Valley also yield more distinctive varietal flavour characteristics, lower pH and higher acidity levels in the finished wine. The Struie is aged for 18 months in a combination of old and new French oak barriques prior to bottling. The Struie is the name of the craggy hilltop overlooking the Dornoch Firth in the Scottish Highlands.

Food Pairing Suggestions: The Struie is a bold and mesmerising wine that can be paired with rich meats such as lamb & game. It will work perfectly with rich sauces, mushroom flavours & truffles. It is one of the few wines that, due to its richness, can also work with a block (or two) of bitter chocolate.
