A wonderful, rich and flavourful finish - Produced organically and according to the traditional style of winemaking
ColleMassari is the most important and largest estate of the Montecucco appellation. The vineyards are located on the Montecucco hill that gives name to the appellation. The vines on the Montecucco hill are the oldest Sangiovese vines of the DOCG.
Poggio Lombrone Montecucco DOCG Sangiovese Riserva is crafted from unique heritage strains of Sangiovese. These biotypes, while genetically similar, each bring a distinct natural variation that contributes to the wine’s depth and complexity.
The Sangiovese vines used for Poggio Lombrone have been part of the estate since its acquisition by the Tipa family. Over time, they have shown an exceptional adaptation to climate change, resulting in a balanced wine that embodies elegance without signs of stress, evoking a Brunello-esque character.
Poggio Lombrone’s remarkable complexity is achieved through traditional fermentation in open wooden vats, followed by 30 months of aging in oak barrels. This meticulous process imbues the wine with rich layers of texture, vibrant color, and a captivating array of flavors and aromas.
All Sangiovese vines at ColleMassari originate from cuttings of Poggio Lombrone’s now 55-year-old vineyards, a testament to the estate’s dedication to preserving the original lineage of these exceptional vines.
Characteristic bouquet of red fruits, roses, violets and sweet spices. On the palate it is glossy and rich, fine, juicy and with balanced tannins. A great Sangiovese full of character with good storage potential.
Shimmering ruby red. Spicy notes and ripe, dark fruit dominate on the nose. Mouth-filling on the palate with finely integrated tannins and soft, ripe fruit notes, medium length.
