Precise, poweful & elegant. A wonderful Bolgheri rosso that will continue to provide loads of enjoyment now and for many years to come
Grattamacco has lead the region in environmentally responsible farming, and was the first to use an Alberello or head-pruned method in Bolgheri.
/This wine is very different from the company's flagship, the Bolgheri Superiore Grattamacco. The vines are planted according to the Alberello system in a special symmetrical grid, so that each plant enjoys the same exposure. The blend is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc.
The wine comes from a two-hectare plot entirely planted with long rows of saplings, which are located at an altitude of 30 meters above sea level on mainly clayey soils. Fermentation takes place in steel and the wine ages for 18 months in barrique. A precise and driven young red with blackcurrant, blackberry, sandalwood and lavender aromas that follow through to an extremely pure and polished palate that is rather endless on the finish. A blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% cabernet franc that is co-fermented. Lot of energy here. Give this four or five years to come around.
James Suckling describes the wine as '"A precise and powerful young red wine with flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, sandalwood and lavender leading to an extremely pure and polished palate that is quite endless on the finish. Lots of energy here."
