A full-bodied Vermentino that has been aged in wood. It is a rich and complex white wine with good aging potential.
'Irisse' is a blend produced with 85% Vermentino and 15% Grechetto. The new vineyards are located 300 meters above the sea level on soils with different expositions and different composition, that gives the plants the best habitat to grow on. The wine ages in 40hl barrels made of oak for 12 months and a minimum of at least 6 months maturation in the bottle.
Montecucco DOC Vermentino Irisse is an off-beat one-of-a-kind bone dry Vermentino with the addition of 20% Grechetto di Todi grapes originating from neighbouring Umbria. Vermentino delivers its almost oily but layered yellow fruit richness whilst the Grechetto di Todi provides its customary fresh lemony acidity, creating mouth-watering inner tension.
The result is a full-bodied, rich and complex Vermentino that has the potential to age for several years- the rich taste is accompanied by an invigorating, fresh acidity until the long finish keeping the wine invigorating and refreshing.
Intense, bright golden yellow. A beautiful fan unfolds on the nose with aromas of melon, pear, wild herbs and white flowers. Enveloping and soft in the mouth, with integrated wood notes, good persistence and a juicy finish
