Drinking superbly already -The distinguished elegance of a harmonious and full-bodied Saint-Estèphe
Nestled in the prestigious Saint-Estèphe appellation on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Ormes de Pez is a property of undeniable charm. Its wines are a masterful balance of power and harmony, embodying the essence of this renowned terroir.
Named after the majestic elm trees that once graced its gardens, the estate has flourished under the stewardship of the Cazes family. Their dedication and vision have propelled Château Ormes de Pez to the forefront of its appellation, securing its place among the most esteemed properties in Saint-Estèphe.
Despite the challenges of the 2017 vintage, marked by late frosts, Château Ormes de Pez delivered a remarkable wine. A portion of the vineyard was affected, yet the vines that remained experienced an uninterrupted growing season, benefiting from a superb late-season warmth that perfectly ripened the grapes. Guided by the expertise of Jean-Michel Cazes, the vinification process maximized the potential of the hand-harvested fruit, showcasing the depth and elegance of the vintage.
A classic Médoc blend, the 2017 Château Ormes de Pez comprises:
The nose opens with vibrant black fruits, revealing layers of blackcurrant and cherry, accented by a refined freshness. The palate is both dense and silky, with structured tannins of remarkable finesse. Subtle toasted oak notes from barrel aging integrate seamlessly, leading to a long, persistent finish—a Saint-Estèphe of elegance and promise.
