Château Angélus is ranked as a Premier Grand Cru Classé "A". The wines are dense with very beautiful aromas of fruit and delicate toasted notes. They are powerful, harmonious and have a very elegant freshness. Beautiful deep and dark red. Its nose is rich, full of fruit and spices. The palate has character, tannins of absolute finesse. It continues on a suave and aromatic finish as desired.Grape variety: 62% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Franc.

This wine boasts an inky/purple color as well as a sumptuous bouquet of creosote, blueberry pie, espresso roast, blackberries, and graphite. Extremely full-bodied and stunningly rich with a multi-layered texture, sweet tannin, and a 45-second finish, this exceptional 2006 is one of the great wines of St.-Emilion.

Dense purple, with sweet boysenberry, blueberry and black-raspberry fruit, licorice, chocolate and a touch of barbecue smoke, a bit of graphite also makes an appearance in this full-bodied, opulent wine that seems to be maturing much like the 2001." (8/2015) "Deep purple/black wine with lovely aromas of fresh grapes, loaded with zesty acid, fine balance, classic style wine in '06, not over the top extraction

When Jane Anson Tasted this wine back in 2020, she stated that its still young and a little closed at this point, even at 14 years old as the tannins remain muscular. Give it time in the glass, as it opens up to show black pepper, cassis, blueberry and rosemary spice. The precision of the construction is clear, with notes of tobacco leaf as it settles into the glass. Serious but succulent, and although its drinking window will be shorter than the 2005, this is still a wine with a long life ahead.

The 2006 should start opening up from 2023 and continue to imporve and age gracefully in the bottle.
