By the 2013 harvest, the estate became 100% organically and Biodynamically farmed. They received their certification for biodynamic and organic farming in 2016 from Ecocert and Biodyvin. This made Chateau Durfort the first classified growth in the Margaux appellation to be Demeter certified as being 100% biodynamic.
Aged partly in amphorae, the wines of Château Durfort-Vivens are recognised for their precision and elegance. The property now owns the largest amphorae cellar in the world.
James Suckling gave this wine 96-97/100. 'What really impresses here is the tannin framework, which displays refinement and power at the same time. It’s full, yet very polished, racy and long.' Loads of blackberries and walnuts with crushed grapes. 88% cabernet sauvignon and 12% merlot.
